17,450 Posts. #12 · Jun 2, 2013. If you stroke it, it won’t be the same engine. You can put a stock 392 in the LX chassis. Mopar sells the engine and PCM to do it. Although, I don’t know why you would do it. You can do so much more with a stroker engine from Arrington and get much more hp more out of it.

5,828 Posts. #6 · Apr 7, 2009. I did an automatic to manual swap on my ’78 van which had an engine from a ’76 car with an auto. My only worry was if the crankshaft had a pilot bearing hole drilled. The step that the torque converter didn’t matter as the splined portion of the transmission shaft is only 1″ and the step is about 1-1/2″.
